Dear Mr

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding your Renault Clio.

I am sorry to hear of the problem you have experienced with the sunroof
handle on your Renault Clio. I can certainly understand how frustrating
this must be for you.

We do try to make sure our dealers offer a helpful and professional service
to all of our customers. Your case has been accessed by both your local
Renault dealer and our warranty department here at Renault UK and they have
both confirmed that this work cannot be claimed under the manufacturing
warranty as it is not a manufacturing defect.

I realise this is disappointing for you and I can only apologise. But we
are unable to change the terms of our warranty.

I hope that I have answered your question. If you have any other enquiries
please feel free to contact me at Renault Customer Services.

With kind regards

Nicky Areago

I bought a car from Arnold Clark Renault Pollockshaws. It was used and in good
condition. The salesman couldn't have been more helpful, but that's where the
good stuff ends. The car had warped brake discs which they said would need to be
ordered, the day I picked the car up the wing mirror wouldn't adjust and the
radio wasn't fitted properly. I arranged to bring the car back for repair and
was told the parts would be ordered and replaced when I returned. I brought the
car back to be told it would take about an hour to fix and was asked to wait and
i could have my car back. $ hours later I was told the parts they had ordered
from Vauxhall were incorrect and that i would have to come back at a later date
for the items to be repaired. Coming back 4 days later expecting them to have
the parts waiting to be fitted was told that they had to be collected from a
Vauxhall dealer. I asked when they expected the car to be ready and was told 5
o'clock. 5:55 and the car was being washed(!
a likely story). The radio code was going to take 7 days to get from Vauxhall as
they didn't have it before they disconnected it from the car to fit it properly.
All in all I won't be buying another car from Arnold as i think he is just out
to make a fast buck and then forget about you after the 30 day warranty has
expired even though your car has been in the garage for 6 days getting warranty
work done. If he want to improve his customer satisfaction he should talk to his
customers instead of ripping them off 26.9.2003

I bought a new car in August - i was advised to wait the extra 3 weeks for a 53
reg.......it is now almost October and I have just got it! It apparently
arrived in the showroom but was having extras added......that took days to do.

Warning - if you buy a brand new reg from Uncle Arnold, don't expect to have it on the first day
on issue...............26.9.2003

How to complain at Arnold Clark ?

http://www.arnoldclark.co.uk/CustomerService/HowToComplain.aspx

I bet that would never appeared if it was not for your web site. However us in the 'know' can confirm that this so called complaints department at Arnold Clark is nothing more than a paper exercise, you will still get pish poor service at Arnold Clark just as soon as they have the money for the car sale or service in Arnolds bank.

You have all been warned so don't come sobbing when it all goes wrong at Arnold Clarks Automobiles as you know it will. Arnold nor his employees do not give a toss about you, they do not give a toss about your car, they want to sell you a car and get some bonus or do a service and get some bonus but when you have paid up like a nice little customer and things go wrong you can go and take a flying f*** as far as they are concerned.

how do I know? I work there and hope to leave very soon.

PS try and find anything on their generous warranty on their web site. bet you wont find one word.

After reading some of the stories on your website my problem seems a little irrelevant but I would like to get it off my chest. I bought a car from A.C. Seafield, Edinburgh in February this year. To cut a long story short, after being given the complete runaround, spending a fortune on phone calls {to which promises to call back are never ever honored} downright lied to and treated with contempt both by salesmen and managers alike. I am still waiting to receive the second set of keys as promised .I feel strongly that people buy cars from AC's mistakenly believing they have chosen a reputable company , whose "promises delivered" slogan would prove to be true. For me, I find the attitude of their staff, frustrating and rude to say the very least. 28.9.2003
Here is another Arnold Clark story for you. Bought a N plate Ford Mondeo a couple of years ago from Arnold Clark In Kirkcaldy. Car itself was fine no problems in that department. Unfortunately, on the way to work one day a transit van decided to reverse into me in a street. The outcome of this was that the car needed a new bonnet \ new headlights \ bumper etc. My insurance company (Arnold Clark insurance) said take it into the nearest Arnold Clark dealership to get the repairs carried out in their accident repair workshop.
Anyway car was dutifully repaired and seemed fine. The problem came when I took the car back along to Arnold Clark for its yearly MOT. Dropped the car off and a couple of hours later got a call from the garage to say your car has failed its MOT as the headlights are defective and can I come up to garage. When I got to the garage the foreman said you have been driving illegally as the headlights are missing some deflectors or something or other. The foreman said the only way the car will pass its MOT is to get new headlights fitted at £100 odd pound each!.
Needless to say he was not very impressed when I told him the headlights had been replaced by his mechanics 6 months earlier. He argued point blank that his guys had touched the car and he disputed the fact that the car had ever been in his garage for any repair. Luckily as I had paid upfront for the repair I still had the visa receipt from the repair. He eventually saw sense and they fixed the headlights.

I contacted Arnold car insurance and told them the story and all they offered me was a free MOT voucher for the following year. Needless to say I told them where to stick it! 29.9.2003
