Hi,
Put M reg Mondeo into Arnolds  CIRCUS to get repairs done and do an
MOT Weeeeeeeelllll

THURSDAY : Put car in day early for 9am Start as booked in. 
FRIDAY :Phoned later on in day to see how work was getting on. Told
" Em there's been a mix up in the PAPER WORK we haven't actually started on car
Explained to them that I had taken it in the previous day so that they could
make the 9am start time. Big apologies from them and that they would start
first thing on SATURDAY morning and then give me a phone when work was done
SATURDAY : 1pm I had to phone them ------ told by a salesman
that the garage section had actually closed at noon and everyone was away home
SOOOOOOOOOOO
MONDAY : Phoned Mr Ewen the SO CALLED service manager and was
informed that the work was complete but MOT couldn't be completed because of a
suspected blown head gasket. They wanted me to give them the go ahead to fix as
it would cost an extra £400. My answer to this was an extra £400 on top of what?
his answer was "eh well em it's about £300 so far"
He said gasket was on order, I said I would collect car, pay for
repairs, and the gasket but get someone else to fix it. Later on he phoned to
say it was in and I arranged to pick it up with the car.
TUESDAY : 1pm Arrived at the CIRCUS to pick up my car . There
ensued a total shambollocks of can't find this bit of paper and can't find that
bit of paper work et..... Bill reads as follows 
COOLING FAN NOT COMING ON S £75.0
CHECKED FOR FAR INOP, CHECKED ALL WIRING, RELAYS,
FUSES ETC, FOUND FUSE BLOWN IN BJB, CARRIED OUT
WIRING CHECK ON FAN CIRCUIT. OK. MOTOR OK.
REQUIRES FUSE. FOUND EXCESSIVE PRESSURE THROUGH
COOLANT EXPANSION BOTTLE, SUSPECT HEAD
GASKET BLOWN.
FITTED NSF AND OSF BRAKE PIPES S £100
POWER STEERING LEAK S £40.
CHECKED FOR POWER STEERING LEAK, REPAIRED PIPE 
FROM TANK TO PUMP. FITTED NEW JUBILEE CLIP.
CABLE TIED ON STEERING RACK BOOT .
CARRY OUT M.O.T. TEST Z £40.75
FITTED FRONT WIPER BLADES S £10.
FITTED NEW THERMOSTAT S £20.
LABOUR £285.75


TOTAL PARTS £61.27
TOTAL £400.62

£300 REALLY GROWS WELL OVER NIGHT IN ARNOLD CLARKS CIRCUS EH

SOOOOOOOO Picked up car duly paid (MUGS BILL ) Funny thing
though no MOT fail certificate that I had paid yet an emissions test pass note
that they said that they could not do because of this seemingly head gasket
problem..!!!!!!
Anyhooooooo in the meantime my family and I have to bus it and taxi
it to where we have to go 'cause we haven't got an MOT for the car .
On speaking to real mechanics about this problem that I had with the
CIRCUS I was then put onto a reliable mechanic , But before I went out to see
him I paid THE CIRCUS one last visit just to see what other pieces of RIP THE
CUSTOMER OFF information they could come away with.
Well low and behold after a wee wrangle at reception and another
look for paper work a PASSED MOT mysteriously appeared with 13/10/2003 on it
needless to say that was the very same day I was standing there. FUNNNNNYYYY
!!!!!
Any way off to the REAL MECHANIC I go with all this info in hand for
him, and low and behold all that needed done was for me to change a fuse
costing £3.42 and 5 minutes to fix to solve all of the problems, and not the
£400 plus that they were going to charge. !!!!!!!!!!!
So methinks I was in line to be ripped off big time by the CIRCUS ,
and please be WARNED if they can try and do it to me how many other of us honest
living citizens have they actually gotten away with doing it to ?????????????? 14.10.2003

My daughter bought a little Fiat Seicento from the Allison St branch in Glasgow.
The car was fine and she was pleased with it. When it was ready for it's 20000
mile service she took it back there, but when she picked it up they told her it
needed additional work done to it. 

Apparently the front brake pads were almost worn out and the brake discs were
badly corroded which could, they told her, cause the brakes to fail at any time.

Fortunately she had no time to get it fixed immediately, but told me about it
the following week. I know my way around cars having looked after my own for
over 30 years, so I got some new pads and discs and got her to bring it over to
me the following weekend so I could replace these "dangerously worn parts".

I bet you can't guess what I found when I stripped it down, the brake pads were
only about 30% worn and the discs were in perfect condition, virtually "as new"!

I know I should have made an issue of it, but as normal I was too busy, so I
just told her not to go back there and left it at that.

The car is now over 3 years old and has done about 45000 miles, I have only
recently fitted the new pads, and the old ones still had about 5000 miles left
in them, the original discs are still on the car and are still in good
condition!

I wonder if she had taken it back, whether they would have actually changed the
parts, or just given her a bill and said that they had, probably the latter 17.10.2003

My husband has been dealing with the Arnold Clark in broxburn for years and is classed as a valued customer
We bought a MG TF Roadster from them This car comes with a soft top obviously winter is coming and Scottish weather we required a hard top it cost us fifteen hundred pounds It was fitted in July it was removed by us as the weather was good We then on sept 16th tried to put it back on it did not fit no matter how hard we tried
My husband took the car to Arnold Clark and the body shop and repairs dept agreed it did not fit now the battle begins 
We have not been refunded our money as they have decided they are not answerable to the consumer regulations that govern every other company They say they have to receive the money from the company they bought the hard top from which is ROVER HERITAGE
{CRAP MANUFACTURES WHO ARE NOT PART OF THE REAL ROVER GROUP} So until they get a refund we don't get one 
We have spoken to the complaints dept and everybody concerned with this dealership and feel we have been lied to at all points
As for Arnold Clark we will no longer use any of his garages for services or to purchase any cars as they lie and treat their customers with little or no respect I expect no demand service and this garage has failed on this point big time 17.10.2003



I had a recent bad experience with Arnold Clark's Fiat dealership in Gorgie,
Edinburgh.

They damaged my car by denting the rear wing, high up on the left side. I think
it was done with the handle of a trolley jack or a similar object as there were
rubber deposits in the dent.

Of course, they denied it and said that because some of their customers were
dishonest, I must be too, and was trying to have existing damage fixed at their
expense.

To try to prove that they produced a so-called inspection diagram, like the one
hire companies use, which was marked up to show the dent. Two things stunk. One
was that it wasn't timed or dated and was signed by the person who did the
service (and probably did the damage). The second was the diagram didn't show
marks and bumps that did exist on the car when it was delivered.

I believe the diagram was marked up after the event to cover up what was
probably a genuine mistake.

I don't like being cheated or called a liar and I will never go back to Arnold
Clark again. Sadly, Arnold dominates Fiat in and around Edinburgh, but I will go
a long way to avoid being treated that way. 17.10.2003

I need to let my anger out on Arnold Clark because i think they are a bunch of USELESS
CROOKS. They will RIP U OFF and charge you for work and parts you don't need. 
Do not be tempted to go back there. The mechanics will fuck your car up. I
promise I wont give them any more business again. 17.10.2003


Bought new Corsa, cd/radio packed up after a month. They ordered a new one and
guess what, they ordered the wrong one. Have been waiting another three months
still don't have one. I think they are waiting until the warranty runs or I sell
the car. Seems that despite being a popular car there radios are as scarce as
rocking horse shit. 17.10.2003



Bought a Laguna from the falkirk branch of Arnold Clark only to have it break
down in Glasgow 1 week later. Called out recovery service to be told a fuel
line was broke and it had to be towed back to the garage. This was fixed only
for two weeks later the exhaust to fall of in Hamilton. Telephoned the branch
to be told i had to drive it BACK TO FALKIRK for them to see it. They insisted
that it was new when we bought it 3 weeks prior and they would fix it. I
informed them politely that the car wasn't inspected or serviced before it was
purchased so i would not be taking it back to be told rudely that it was our car
now. I had to hire a car to take me from Motherwell to falkirk and demand to
see the duty manager to be given your a woman look you know nothing. Only when
i threaten to put the car through the forecourt window and phone in trading
standards did the give in and offer me another car. I wish this was the end as
they took the car back and where supposed to swap it for another car only when i checked the finance agreement did i notice that
the had marked down that they had bought the car back for 1 THOUSAND POUND LESS
than i paid for it. Depreciation in value they said. Depreciation my arse. 
Then they had the cheek to ask for payment because they had to change all the
info on the finance documents. DON'T BUY A CAR FROM ARNOLD CLARK THEY TAKE MONEY
THEN DON'T GIVE A SHIT 17.10.2003
